I think this all stems from one highly misunderstood aspect of human behavior; which is that humans are animals. In fact, humans are apes - violent aggressive apes at that. Of course, we don’t have to behave like wild animals, but if we don’t realize that we are driven by overwhelmingly powerful animal instinct, we will continue to follow the path of aggression that is prevalent in nature (such as in chimpanzees). All manipulation of others (as regards the dating scene) stems from fear of not being accepted or loved; and people are willing to accept even the most ragged examples from others (such as attempting to get others to lust after you or envy what you have). Finding the perfect relationship should not be seen as the prize of life. I’d say that a bigger prize is learning all the lessons from the experiences we have as we ride this wild bucking bronco (that being the animal that “we” also reside in). That said; we should try to have compassion for all the others, because they too are also trying to figure it out while also living a highly conditioned existence (and not knowing all the answers).
